Two Lives and an old Mountain Lodge

Two Lives and an old Mountain Lodge

This is the story of an old lodge that has stood for over 70 years on the side of a mountain in central Japan. At the time of filming, Masaichi Sasaki was 94 years old, and his wife Harue was 92. The elderly couple run the lodge completely on their own. Harue is very talkative and enjoys being the boss. In contrast, Masaichi is a quiet, simple and a hard worker. This portrait of two lives is fundamentally a song of wonder about growing old with strength, independence, and grace. *ABU Prizes 2006/NAB Awards/ and more
